Cowboy Cavier

The vet calls me MFA during harvest.(mother farms alone)...morning milking and chores were fueled by 5 sticks of red licorice!  Almost a month of perfect harvest weather has its downfall....no "down" and recuperate day!....but, we shouldn't complain with harvesting winding down.
I wanted to share a recipe from my friend Jessica....she does the cooking for our crew at World Dairy Expo....EASY...NUTRITIOUS....not to mention "DARN GOOD" with or without chips.
Cowboy Caviar

1 can of White Sweet Corn (Shoepeg) Drained
1 can of Pinto Beans Drained
1 can of Black Beans
1 can of Black Eyed Peas Drained
1 Medium Onion Chopped
1 Green Pepper Chopped
1 Yellow Pepper Chopped
1 Red Pepper Chopped
4 Ribbed of Celery Chopped

Mix in bowl and set aside

1 cup Vegetable Oil
½ Cup of Sugar (I use Splenda)
½ Cup Cider Vinegar (I usually put in a touch more)

Simmer Liquids and Sugar until sugar is dissolved.

The batch for expo was a single of the dressing and double the veggies.

Light hearted notes from an old church musician

As a new blogger, I'm going to follow the suggestion to have "theme days".

I spent nearly 30 years singing and playing at weddings, funerals, anniversaries, etc.....
some stories will be funny, some sad, some bizarre!!!

As I heard the church bells this morning, I got to thinking about my Grandma G's funeral...
she was the first grandma to die for many of us cousins.....the funeral home had a small room where the organ and musicians performed....we had cousins with instruments and cousins that sang....it seemed like we were jammed in that room like sardines....as we somberly waited our turn, the funeral director came in, quite stoikely....stood there a few minutes....then in a flash!!!...whipped out this long list and asked, "anybody wanna buy some girl scout cookies?!!!"
